Join us twice a month for fist-thumping, pint-drinking, side-tickling, award-winning poetry!
On the second and last Monday of every month, Loud Poets welcomes poets to perform their work at the Canons' Gait at our open mic. We invite poets writing all styles of poetry to come along and share (even if you're not very loud!). With a different feature performer every time, this event offers a welcoming and supportive environment for all.
Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7:00 start. The event has a 15 minute interval about one hour in. It wraps up around 9.30pm.
Please note that this event is free and unticketed (you don't need to book through Eventbrite to attend). Seating is first come, first served. As this event tends to fill up quickly, we recommend that you arrive early (doors 6.30pm) to ensure a seat. Having an Eventbrite booking will not guarantee you a seat or sign you up for the open mic.

We always leave two spots open, and these spots will be filled by random draw from poets who sign up on the door. When you arrive at the open mic, please check in with the host to confirm you're here (if you have a performance slot) or if you'd like to sign up on the door.
Performance slots are five minutes. Poets are welcome to perform as many or few poems as you would like within that time. You are welcome to go under the five minutes, but please do not go over, out of respect to your fellow performers.
All ages are welcome, but please note that due to the venue's licensing laws, under-18s can only be present until 9pm so would need to leave at the interval.
At our open mic and all of our events, we endeavour to create a safe, welcoming space for all to attend and share their work. We ask performers to be respectful of the diversity of our experiences. We do not tolerate racism, sexism, transphobia, xenophobia, ableism, or any other forms of discrimination and harassment. Don't punch down. Performers and attendees who violate this policy will be asked to leave.
Access information: The event takes place in the downstairs room of the Canons' Gait, so unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
